Nomasizole Nondzaba

My name is Nomasizole aka “Noma” Nondzaba. I was born in Mdantsane, a suburb in East London, South Africa. I grew up being the only child at home till five years ago when my sister “Nasiphi” was born. We stay with our mother and grandmother. My family were non-Adventists when I was growing up till the year 1996 when we accepted the Adventist gospel. When I got to the Adventist church I was welcomed by music lovers and their music was different unlike most African denominations, their music was influenced by the west.
As music was a hobby to me, I never had the opportunity to sing for an audience till I was an Adventist. My parents sent me to one of the Adventist Schools Cancele Senior Secondary School where I started singing in trios and larger groups. When I came back home the Advent 4 approached me and asked me to sing background vocals for their second album and a few months later they asked me to join them. Of course I accepted as these guys were the only music group that showed dedication to what they were doing in our church and around town and I wanted to learn more from them.
One of my happiest achievements was when the group sang one of my songs which I co-wrote with Khaya Nunu.
As I am a female I was called to sing first tenor for the group and I believe this brought a different dimension to the music the group used to sing before I was brought onboard.
